RoBFS is a lightweight classic Roblox revival inspired by the early days of Roblox. RoBFS is currently in development and is in a very early stage. At the moment, the only public feature available is the Avatar Editor. RoBFS is designed to be extremely lightweight and easy to host. There is no server-side rendering involved. Instead, assets are pre-rendered and simply loaded when needed, allowing RoBFS to run even on very low-end hardware (yes — even a baby potato). The goal of RoBFS is to remain:
Features and systems will be added gradually as development continues. |

What versions of Roblox is RoBFS inspired by? RoBFS is primarily inspired by Roblox from late 2007 to early 2008. Does RoBFS connect to real Roblox in any way? No. RoBFS is not affiliated with Roblox in any way. Nothing on RoBFS loads directly from the Roblox website. All content shown is based on Roblox from the 2007–2008 era and remains the property of Roblox Corporation. Why did you choose pre-rendered assets instead of live rendering? Live rendering uses significantly more CPU and RAM and is usually limited to Windows-based systems. RoBFS uses pre-rendered assets so it can be hosted on almost anything — Linux, macOS, Windows, and potentially even low-powered devices. Who is RoBFS meant for? RoBFS is made for nostalgia fans, private friend groups, and as a learning project for understanding classic Roblox systems. Will RoBFS ever support actual multiplayer games? Yes. Multiplayer support is planned for the future and is currently being worked on. What makes RoBFS different from other Roblox revivals? RoBFS focuses on being lightweight and easy to host. Many other revivals are heavy, complex, and difficult to self-host, while RoBFS is designed so almost anyone can run it. Is RoBFS safe to self-host? Yes. Once RoBFS becomes open-source, it will be easy to self-host and fully control your own instance. Why the name RoBFS? RoBFS was originally going to be called NoobCity as a joke revival. As the project became more serious, a better name was needed. The name Rbfs came to mind while designing the logo, and the extra “o” was added to form RoBFS. Why is RoBFS hosted on greenblox.neocities.org? Greenblox was an older Roblox revival project that was abandoned in favor of learning PHP and other technologies. RoBFS currently uses Neocities as a static content host since no server-side features are being used yet. Hosting and domain choices may change in the future. |
